Bringing humanity to homelessness
Why a coaltion?
We are a coalition because we believe deeply that eradicating homelessness will only be achieved by having all walks of life open their hearts and minds to the homelessness crisis and become part of the solution. We believe humanity needs to care for each other and not expect someone else to come in and fix the problem. By raising awareness and igniting compassion, we have seen people evolve from having the homeless be invisible to them to becoming passionate activists.
Homelessness is a global crisis
Homelessness violates the principle of human dignity enshrined in articles 1 and 22 of the United Nation’s Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
And yet…an estimated 1.6 billion people lack adequate housing around the world, and more than 100 million have no housing at all. Homelessness is growing in many parts of the world, particularly in low- and middle-income countries, with rapid urbanization contributing to the problem.
Provide sources of funding for nonprofit organizations across the country that are preventing and ending homelessness, and providing aid to the people and families experiencing it.
Educate the next generation of philanthropists on the realities of homelessness and create opportunities for them to have an impact early in life.
Build community: between housed and unhoused people, service providers around the country and around the world, and the individuals and institutions that are united in the goal of ending homelessness.
Increase awareness of and support for legislation that addresses the top causes of homelessness in America.
